I had to learn the hard way that leaning on others didn’t make me weak—in fact, it made me UNSTOPPABLE. ~Niki
I think one of my biggest struggles with motherhood early on was in realizing the value of the tribe. In general, I rarely ask for help. Don’t get me wrong, my family has bailed me out more than I would like to admit. But the reality is, they wouldn’t have had to bail me out if I just asked for help earlier.
So . . . the transition into motherhood was a tough one for me, to say the least. I was a single mother with a newborn and I should have asked for more help. Period.
Now, I want to encourage mothers to not feel shame in asking for help and to feel empowered when they in fact ask for help and give support to other moms. This is in essence the mission and goal of ‘Strong Mother‘ and the “As Strong as the Mother Next to Me” brand which includes apparel, a podcast, blog, editorial series, and community.
Introducing the “As Strong as the Mother Next to Me” Weekly Spotlight.
We are SO excited to announce we will be launching a weekly spotlight that will highlight and celebrate Moms right here in San Diego and across the globe that believes in building up and supporting moms. Our hopes are that if we can debunk the idea that you have to take on this journey alone, as a community of moms we will all walk away stronger, inspired, and that we will raise stronger children and become better partners.

I want it to be so much more than a slogan on a t-shirt or a coffee mug. It will be a community that connects and empowers mothers. Our apparel and products make a perfect gift for Mother’s Day, a shower gift for a new mom, or just a thank you to a mom in your life that supports you! As we grow these features will be turned into both an online article and features in an online video and podcast format.
Our Mission Statement: You are as Strong as the Mother Next to You is a concept inspired by the African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.” The belief that all mothers should be supported in their choices and that by empowering and lifting each other up, we become better women, partners, leaders, and friends.
