Celebrate National Margarita Day with Delicious Margarita Recipes

2

Not that we need to make it an actual holiday to enjoy a margarita, BUT, today is National Margarita Day! I would be doing a disservice to you as our readers if I didn’t share some delicious recipes to celebrate. Since I stick to the basic Costco/Kirkland Margarita Mix and Costco/Kirkland Tequila for my simple marg, I decided that it would be a better idea to ask all of my friends what their favorite margarita recipes were!

Listed below are all the ones I compiled for you. ENJOY!

Lindsay M- Jalapeño-infused margarita

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts infused tequila (with jalapeño if interested)
  • 1 part simple syrup
  • 1 part lime juice
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • Orange liqueur to taste.

Directions:

Must be chilled on lots of ice. It’s a little strong! Hubby’s recipe–> He makes the syrup and hand-juices the lemons/limes! You could also juice the jalapeño if you wanted to instead. We’ve done it both ways.

Jessica L insists on using Alton Brown’s recipe-

Ingredients:

Directions:

Follow the lengthy directions on the Food Network Website!

Elisa keeps it simple-

Ingredients:

Lime juice with agave syrup and tequila.

Directions:

Pour over ice with a salt-rimmed glass

Elisa’s husband, however, likes them strong-

Here’s the recipe I make for Elisa. A word of WARNING though: I’d either share this drink with someone else or cut it in half.

Ingredients:

  • Equal parts freshly-squeezed lime juice to tequila. I typically do 1 cup to 1 cup.
  • A couple tablespoons of agave syrup (a good-sized squirt from the bottle will do).
  • You can also substitute with sugar or add a little of both. This is just for sweetening so find what you like. Also remember, it’s always easier to make it sweeter than to make it less sweet later on.

Directions:

Shake well, pour over ice. I suppose you can also blend this but I’ve never made it that way. Pour into a salt-lined margarita glass (or a Big Gulp glass if you intend to ignore my warning and drink it all).

Meredith likes her version of a skinny marg-

Ingredients:

  • LaCroix (your favorite flavor, can also be found at Costco)
  • fresh lime
  • fresh grapefruit
  • a high-quality tequila

Directions:

Mix! Pour over ice! And instead of salt, use Tajin! (Or the version Trader Joes makes)

Deanne also has a healthy spin on a marg recipe:

Ingredients:

  • Kombucha
  • tequila
  • fresh-squeezed limes

Finally, here are a few recommendations for locations in San Diego that have BOMB margaritas 🙂

Lori says: Fidel’s in Solana Beach

Carrie says: Sangria swirl from On The Border is her all-time fave!

What are some of your favorites margaritas at restaurants in San Diego??
