Whether you are raising an artist, a mathematician or an athlete, an arts-based camp may be just what your child needs to balance out, or further enrich, his or her developing brain.
Included in our SDMB Arts / Museums category are all camps focused around (but not limited to) art-focused projects, museum-based camps, theater, drama and music. Give your child the opportunity to take the stage and wow the crowd. Arts-based camps foster public speaking skills, inner confidence and a sense of self-worth, mastery of the written language, science, math, and so much more.
Art camps broaden horizons and invite new perspectives to come to play for growing young minds. Dance and music invigorate and inspire daily movement. Crafting and creating will give you plenty of new stuff to put up on your refrigerator; and make you proud.
Join us at AR Workshop San Diego for creative and crafty summer youth ART Camps! Girls and boys, ages 8-14, will customize and make 4 DIY Projects and a t-shirt over the course of the 4 day camp.
Throughout the camp experience, participants will select their favorite paint colors and learn some basic tool skills. Kids can bring a snack or drink to enjoy during the session.
We also offer optional Friday half-day camp as an add-on. Project options include: Wood Plank Signs, Boho Textile Wall Hangings, Wood Photo Frames, Canvas Pillows, Board Games, and Canvas Wall Hangings.
Designed for elementary, middle, and high school students, Summer Youth Art Programs give students the opportunity to learn from artist-educators while enjoying the Museum and the bounty of Balboa Park. Summer Camps and Teen Studios include art instruction, studio activities, lunch and snack breaks, and visits to the Museum to see current exhibitions.
Founded in 1990, the San Diego Children’s Choir is the area’s oldest and largest choral training program serving children ages four–18 at locations throughout San Diego County.
Treat your child to a fun-filled week of singing, dancing, and art inspired by the vibrant heritage of Mexico! “A World of Music” Summer Day Camp, from June 24 through 28, will take children on a cultural journey through Mexico unique customs and traditions.
Camps begins with a daily ballet class in which students are introduced to the technical aspects of ballet as well as the concepts of musicality and performance. Supplemental activities like arts & crafts, jazz classes, performance rehearsals, and field trips to other cultural institutions in Balboa Park make every day of camp an adventure. Each week of camp culminates in an in-studio performance during which family and friends are invited to see what students have learned at camp and celebrate the accomplishments of the dancers.
Over the Summer the New Children’s Museum has camps available for ages 4 to 12. All camps focus on art and play, with dedicated studio time and time exploring museum indoor and outdoor space.
At their camp, the camps are divided into PreK-K, grades 1-3 and grades 4-6 groups, and are taught by professional artists and educators. A free Summer Camp Open House on June 8 from 1-3pm at the Museum will include a meet and greet with the camp instructors, a tour of the Museum and an opportunity to learn more about the summer camp programs.
