Pumpkin for Paws

Date: Friday, October 18th

On Friday, October 18th, at 5PM, our very own Mayor Richard Bailey will be taking a MASSIVE pumpkin, (containing the winning raffle ticket) 3 stories high, for a PUMPKINTASTIC drop. Once the pumpkin explodes, the winning raffle ticket will be revealed.

Halloween Family Day at Balboa Park 

Date: Saturday, October 26th
Where: Balboa Park 
Time: 11am–4pm

Enjoy a culturally inspired kickoff to your Halloween festivities at the region’s largest free Halloween carnival. More than 30 participating cultural attractions, community groups, and sponsors present free craft projects for kids, Day of the Dead-themed displays and activities, costume contests, carnival games with prizes, face painting, and live dance entertainment. Participating museums also offer free admission to children 12 and under with paying adult, and more than a dozen gourmet food trucks will be serving up a variety of edible treats.

Halloween at the Station 

Date: Sunday,October 27th 
Where: North Promenade at Liberty Station 
Time: 12pm-4pm

Liberty Station invites the community to join us in the North Promenade on Sunday, October 27th for a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration!

All ages are encouraged to come decked out in their most elaborate costumes. The daytime festivities will include trick-or-treating throughout the district, live entertainment, a Hollywood car show, and other spooky surprises.

La Mesa Oktoberfest

La Mesa Oktoberfest returns October 4th, 5th & 6th for it’s 46th year! The largest Oktoberfest celebration west of the Mississippi, the 46th annual festival covers an area of nearly six city blocks of La Mesa Village. Attracting more than 100,000 attendees annually, the three-day event features local and regional bands, traditional German dishes and plenty of German bier.Highlights include traditional biergarten sing-a-longs and interactive game; the original glücklich games, such as beer stein races, beer barrel rolls, keg bowling and keg hauling; a Kinder Garten with contests and hands-on activities; and an antique market and a vendor market.

Pacific Beachfest

Toddler Fest

Where: The New Children’s Museum 

Join us for Toddler Fest presented by La Jolla Country Day School on 10/11 + 10/12 from 9am to 12pm to celebrate the opening of our new and reimagined Tot Studio, called tikitiko, by artist-in-residence, Tanya Aguiñiga! This two-day FREE outdoor festival is designed for children 1-4 years old and their families, and will feature an engaging collection of our favorite weekly ScholarShare 529 Toddler Time programming with story time, performances, finger painting, bubbles and more in the park across from the Museum.

Haunted Halloween Cruise

Date: Saturday, October 12th

So excited to announce the 2nd annual Six String Society – Haunted Halloween cruise on Mission Bay (San Diego) on Oct. 12th. San Diego Zombie Crawl

Food Truck Tuesday at Civita Park 

Curbside Bites has launched “Food Truck Tuesdays at Civita Park near the large flagpole. Find San Diego’s best food trucks every Tuesday from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at Civita Park!  The Go Go Truck, Scugnizzi Pizzi, Good Save the Cuisine, R&R Beach City Bistro, Scott Rothman and Jake Mutscheller. A rotating variety of food trucks will participate. The schedule of vendors is available at www.curbsidebites.com.

 

WHAMMOCK! at the New Children’s Museum
WHAMMOCK! is the newest commissioned art installation is an interactive, three-dimensional textile environment of colorful crocheted hexagons, open pockets and hanging pendulums. Children are able to move upwards through one pocket after another until they reach a colorful expanse where they can run, slide, bounce and rest. The rhythmic motion evokes the sensation of floating in a swelling sea, stimulating the deepest part of the brain and engaging the child’s sight, touch, movement and balance.

Del Mar Racing Season Kicks off July 17th through September 2nd
San Diego horse racing takes place where the “turf meets the surf” at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July – early-September.

Every Tuesday Vegan Playgroung Nights  at 4pm

The Zoo will be all aglow with activities and entertainment from a DJ spinning spooktacular tunes for everyone to dance to among bursts of bubbles, and fun entertainment from our leader of laughs Dr. Zoolittle, acrobats, jugglers, a cupcake walk, animal presentations, and more.

Every Saturday Little Italy’s Farmers Market 

Come stroll through the Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., where over 200 tents line W. Date Street from Kettner Boulevard to Front Street. The options are endless—you can enjoy an incredible selection of farm fresh produce, pastured eggs and poultry, meat, fish, flowers, local artisan food and more! Find food purveyors with sauces and relish, oysters, coffee beans, spices and more, and plants including orchids, fresh flowers, and bedding plants. Dine on crepes, paninis, green smoothies, lemonade and local chefs’ specialties best enjoyed with our live music.
