San Diego Hidden Gem: 4 Great Reasons to Visit Del’s Hideout

0

My daughter and I recently met up with friends at Del’s Hideout in San Diego for Saturday lunch. This Del Cerro spot was opened in March 2019 by Cohn Restaurant Group. It’s a great place to gather with friends, engage with kids, or even enjoy a kid-free evening. There are many great reasons to visit Del’s Hideout. Here are some of our favorite things about this family-friendly establishment:

They have Happy Hour daily.

Del’s has a happy hour menu available every day of the week from 3-6PM. This was a pleasant surprise on the afternoon we visited, as we arrived just prior to its start. Del’s Hideout’s menu largely focuses on Texas-style barbeque offerings. Their happy hour menu features specials on Sips and Nibbles. Sips specials reduce prices on select domestic draft beer, wine, and well drinks. The Nibbles features pulled pork sliders at $3 each, chili cheez tots, and mac ‘n cheese to name a few. In addition to the afternoon specials, on Friday and Saturday evenings from 9PM-close.

There is a sheltered outdoor play area with plenty of activities to entertain the littles!

This place has just beat other “kid-friendly” eateries in the play area department, as far as I am concerned. There is ample space in the shipping-container-turned-play-area, and plenty of toys suited for various age groups. I love that the play space is largely shaded. There were tablets mounted to the wall with games, blocks, cars, and dolls amongst other toys. I appreciated that there were multiple tables within a few feet of this space, so we easily kept an eye on our kids. Del’s also has call buttons at every table, so you can summon your server without having to leave the kids unattended to flag one down.

Del’s Hideout has 36 beers on tap. At one time.

Craft beer drinkers rejoice. This place has options to suit any beer drinker’s fancy, I reckon. Del’s does a great job supporting locals like Eppig, Thorn St, Fall, and Societe. I also found ciders on tap, Anderson Valley, Modelo, and Bud Light. For those who just can’t get into the beer, there is a full bar for cocktails and wine.

Need a place to watch a game? There are many screens inside. And specials during games.

With football season in full swing, Del’s Hideout should be on your list of places to watch the game. Their tailgate specials run from 5-10PM on Mondays and Thursdays, and all day Sunday. Think barbeque comfort food and a tall Bud Light to wash it down.

Don’t forget dessert! Del’s Hideout offers free soft-serve ice cream with your meal.

There is a soft-serve ice cream machine on the way to the exit. As my daughter couldn’t pull herself away from the fun in the play area at Del’s Hideout, this was the incentive I needed to finally get us on our way!
