Whether you want it to be or not, Summer is right around the corner! It’s time to start planning ahead for your kiddos and what they will be doing to keep themselves busy this Summer. We have so many awesome activities lined up in this guide, make sure to share it with your friends so you can sign up your kiddos for fun activities together!

The Studio Space

The Studio Space offers weeklong summer camps from 9am-12pm, M-F, during the month of July. Each week we’ll focus on a different theme, material, or process. Classes are capped at 8 which allows for individual, one-on-one attention. Students will complete 4 in-depth projects, with the last day devoted to putting final touches on work that needs it and setting up for our art show where we can share our hard work with families!

Open-studio time after collaborative warm ups, discussion, and demonstrations means students work at their own pace and each create their own personally meaningful, unique works of art. Classes held outdoors in my home garden-studio. Ages 7-12.

Paint Box Art Studio Summer Camps offer sewing and art instruction for 6-18 year olds. We have different themes each week for 13 weeks of camp. Our most popular camps are Dollhouse camp, Entrepreneur Camp and Fashion Camp. During Dollhouse camp, each student leaves with their own decked out dollhouse. Entrepreneur Camp culminates in a big sale after a week of creating products to sell. Fashion Camp features an end of week fashion show featuring all of our campers/designers and their fabulous creations coming down the runway!

Bach To Rock

Keep the music alive this summer through Bach to Rock’s Online Music Camps! B2R is offering 11 diverse online music mini-camps for the summer season 2021. These camps are held for 60 – 90 minutes per day, five days a week, and explore the foundations of music! For all camps, students will need a device (mobile, tablet, or computer) compatible with Zoom. *Drum, Guitar, Piano, & Ukulele Mini-Camps require an instrument.*

San Diego Art Camp activities include Ceramics, Painting, Photography, Dance, and a walk around the park with a museum and Spanish Village Art Center visit. The instruction will be mostly at the outside tables covered by tents in front of the House of Czech and Slovak Republics. Grades 1st – 6th. Camp runs Monday Through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Do you want to learn how to play in a band or learn to write songs? School of Rock San Diego offers a wide variety of music camps and workshops that cover topics such as these. Their local music camps are perfect for musicians of any skill level who want to play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals.

The ever-popular model railroad camp introduces beginner modelers to the basics of creating a mock model railroad. Older campers will create a working model railroad. Campers paint, plaster, lay track and construct a mini-town, complete with buildings, trees, trains, and people!

New Children’s Museum (Del Mar)

The New Children’s Museum offers camps at both its downtown and Del Mar (Art + Play Space) locations that are project-based and taught by artists and educators. All camps include classroom time to explore art projects and learn new skills as well as physical play in its spaces. Family and friends are invited each Friday to an exhibition to view artwork created during the week. NOTE: All Summer Camps at the downtown Museum have reached capacity and are sold out. Spots are available in our camps at the Art + Play Space in Del Mar.

Yoga Rascals’

Yoga Rascals’ La Mesa is held in and around Nan Couts Cottage at La Mesa Community Center and the Carlsbad camp is held at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. Children ages 5 – 10 practice yoga on the lawn under mature trees, work on their arts and crafts projects and enjoy nature walks and games. Camps run 9:00am-12:30pm. Carlsbad Camps: June 20 – 24, 2022 & July 5 – 8, 2022. La Mesa Camps: June 27 – July 1, 2022 & July 11 – July 15, 2022

Cool Creations mixed media art camps include a variety of mediums such as pottery painting, acrylic canvas painting, clay hand building, oil pastels, and water colors!  Your little artist will come home with amazing masterpieces. 

Children ages 5 and up are welcome for most sessions.  Camp hours are M-F 9am-12:30pm. $269/week. Located in Pacific Beach.

After months spent inside the classroom, are your children yearning for a breath of fresh air?  What do you see when you picture the “traditional” kids summer camp? Birch Aquarium Summer Camp

Birch Aquarium is thrilled to be offering in-person camps this summer for children ages 5 to 13! Explore underwater worlds and meet ocean creatures in these fun and safe week-long camps. From the beach to the aquarium, our camps merge scientific exploration with hands-on fun! Full and half-day programs are available from June 21 through August 26, 2022.

Registration opens March 1 for Birch Aquarium members and March 8 for the general public. Scholarships are available.

Camp Kroc explores every area of The Salvation Army Kroc Center and offers a variety of age-appropriate recreational activities. Each week is packed with fun games and activities! Our American Camp Association Accredited day camps offer athletic and cultural activities in our unique venues.

Coastal Kiddos

SD Coastal Kiddos’ goals are to encourage children in San Diego to form a bond with nature and to learn to love the world around them and be comfortable exploring and interacting with it. Through our outdoor education and adventure after school programs, the next “first time” exploration is just around the corner. Small camp groups run by highly educated and trained mentors.  Camps will run from June 6th- August 26th. Each camp runs Monday- Friday.
The cost is $500 for the week, for ages are 4.5-11. (Private camps available for groups of 4 or more- please email to inquire). Locations vary by week.

Doyle Park Kidz Camp

Doyle Park Kidz Kamp provides high quality, active-based after school childcare for Doyle Elementary students during the school year and offers full day summer camps! Their quality of care is maintained through a highly qualified staff, communication and involvement within the community, consistent adherence to child safety protocols, and purposeful daily planning of activities. Camp starts June 15th – August 22nd and runs from 7:30am-5:30pm.

SEACAMP San Diego

SEACAMP San Diego is a marine science camp for kids and teens offering a range of programs to students throughout the school year and summer. Their programs combine hands-on labs and workshops with interactive field activities, such as snorkeling, boat trip, kayaking and boogie boarding. Marine science is a multidisciplinary field therefore SEACAMP San Diego covers a wide variety of subjects during our programs including marine ecology, physical oceanography and marine biology, ranging from the largest marine mammals to the smallest plankton.

San Diego Civic Youth Ballet Summer Camp begins with a daily ballet class in which students (ages 4-10) are introduced to the technical aspects of ballet as well as the concepts of musicality and performance. Supplemental activities like arts & crafts, jazz classes, performance rehearsals, and field trips to other cultural institutions in Balboa Park make every day of camp an adventure.

San Diego Strike Force

San Diego Strike Force selects premiere coaches and athletes to lead the next generation of athletes. Our football coaching staff and professional dance instructors are experienced in their fields as well as how to mentor youth. They will equip your children with tools for success in sport and in life. Real-time lessons will be explored addressing responsibility, respect, empathy, kindness and leadership. Each camper will have an opportunity to try new skills and grow in confidence. Ages 5+, camp starts June 13th and runs M-F 9am -3pm, at NTC Park.
