Summer Concerts by the Sea

This summer, Encinitas Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts brings more fun to our beach concert experience. Summer Concerts are held right on the sand at beautiful Moonlight Beach in Encinitas.

Join us on Sunday, July 7 for groovin’ old-school rhythms from Cold Duck.  Cold Duck has enjoyed success with appearances from San Diego to Santa Barbara, locations such as Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, NBC, MGM and ABC Studios.  The band’s credo – “Give the people what they want to hear and have a good time delivering it!” Come enjoy their fantastic live show with us at Moonlight Beach!

NIGHTTIME ZOO at the San Diego Zoo

Dates/Times: June 16-June 27 Nighttime Zoo is open until 8 p.m. June 28-Sept. 2 Nighttime Zoo is open until 9 p.m. Special activities get started at 4 p.m. daily.

Celebrate summer into the evening with live music, fun shows and activities, animal encounters, and more! 

Thereโ€™s so much to do, see, and hearโ€”itโ€™s a good thing summer hours are longer! The Zoo is open late until 9 p.m. throughout Nighttime Zoo presented by One Medical.

The worldโ€™s top professional female surfers are back in Oceanside for the 12th annual Super Girl Surf Pro, a 3 day event from July 26 โ€“ 28th, 2019.  The weekend will be jam-packed with world-class surfing competition that will have you on your toes, and a festival village loaded with female-inspired vendors, activities and amazing entertainment.

2019 Annual Over The Line Tournament

Where: Fiesta Island on Mission Bay – 1590 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109

The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) is calling all players, beach-goers, and sports enthusiasts to the biggest summer event in San Diego!

Reoccurring Events You Don't Want to Miss!

DAILY EVENTS

Wonderspaces in common
in common points to a few fundamental questions: how are we shaped by our experiences, environments, and relationships?  While appreciating the uniqueness of our individual journeys, the thirteen pieces focus on the questions we all have. They highlight our connectivity, pushing us to better understand those around us and helping us be better understood. in common will run from June 7 to September 1, 2019. An approximately ninety-minute experience, in common is a place to gather with friends and family.

WHAMMOCK! at the New Children’s Museum
WHAMMOCK! is the newest commissioned art installation is an interactive, three-dimensional textile environment of colorful crocheted hexagons, open pockets and hanging pendulums. Children are able to move upwards through one pocket after another until they reach a colorful expanse where they can run, slide, bounce and rest. The rhythmic motion evokes the sensation of floating in a swelling sea, stimulating the deepest part of the brain and engaging the childโ€™s sight, touch, movement and balance.

Del Mar Racing Season Kicks off July 17th through September 2nd
San Diego horse racing takes place where the “turf meets the surf” at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July – early-September. 

WEEKDAY'S

Every Tuesday & Wednesday – The Regal Summer Movie Express is back! If youโ€™re looking for something to do with the kids over summer vacation that is fun for the whole family and budget-friendly, check this out.

Beginning on June 11th, enjoy $1 admission for select showings at Rancho San Diego Stadium 15 in El Cajon and starting on June 17th at Mira Mesa Stadium 18. At 10AM every Tuesday and Wednesday, both theaters will feature two popular movies like How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World (PG) and Dr. Seussโ€™s The Grinch (PG) at the discounted price of $1.

SPLASHTASTIC Inflatable Fun all Summer Long Every Friday! Enjoy large inflatables, the Magneetor or Swing & Slide, in the pool with three different sessions at 4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm. 

Cruisinโ€™ Grandโ„ข Escondido Every Friday Night!
Vintage Auto Show, Cruisinโ€™ Grandโ„ข Escondido runs every Friday night downtown on Grand Avenue from April 5th to September 27th from 5-9pm all along Grand Avenue in historic downtown Escondido.

SATURDAY'S

Every Saturday – Hotel Del Coronado’s Move on the Beach 
Snuggle up on Del Beach for our favorite summer movies in a theater under the stars. Guests may cuddle up around a private bonfire with sโ€™mores and relax in a beach daybed or enjoy seating in Del Beach sand chairs. Please reserve your tickets in advance for guaranteed seating. The movies begin promptly at 8pm, doors open at 7pm.

PopUp Play Saturdays – My Yard Live Starting July 20th, join My Yard Live for a PopUp PlayDate. They will be hosting FREE Sensory Play, Crafting, & Rotating A Sponsored Activity each WEEK! Summer Sundays at Village Walk (Eastlake) – July 6th, 13th & 20th
Summer Sundays kicks off on June 16 and continues thru July 21. Catch a different beat and cruise a different car club every week. Then enjoy food & product samples from our merchants and fun activities for the kids including free crafts, balloon sculptures and face painting. Village Walkโ€”your hidden gem for shopping, dining and family fun!

Coronado Summer Concerts in the Park – Every Sunday starting at 4:30pm
With musical acts ranging from classic rock to Latin jazz to soul and country, the series will deliver a variety of styles, all designed to fit the comfortable and exquisite setting of Spreckels Park. This yearโ€™s summer concert series runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend with  concerts every Sunday.

Music and Movement with Dance to Evolve – 10:30am-11:15am (Central Library) This is a fun class full of games and creative movement that is perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolers!  Put on your dancing shoes and boogie down at the library!

Led by MCASD Gallery Educators, Family ArtLAB: Geometric Abstractions invites participants to use geometric shapes to create playful and unique works of art that they can take home. This program is free to attend.

Snorkel with Leopard Sharks (Saturday & Sunday 7/21) – Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Dive in with aquarium naturalists to explore the underwater world of leopard sharks, guitarfish, rays, and other creatures that call our local marine reserve home. 

2019 Insect Festival at the San Diego Botanic Garden (Saturday & Sunday 7/21) 10am-4pm
Calling all aspiring entomologists! This one-of-a-kind event is just for you, featuring thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, spiders, lizards and snakes. 

Autism Accessibility Mornings at the Fleet Science Center (Balboa)
The third Saturday of every month, early access to galleries 9-10 a.m. IMAX showing at 10 a.m. The Fleet invites the Autism Spectrum Community to enjoy our museum through this special opportunity. Adults and families with children with autism can enjoy the Fleet’s exhibit galleries in a quieter setting, an hour before regular open hours to the general public and with access to a special cool-off space. 

The City of Carlsbadโ€™s Aloha Plunge at the Alga Norte Aquatic Center – 5pm-9pm
Enjoy fun, island themed pool games and activities, giant inflatables and key logs and more. End the night with a special Polynesian dance performance where the audience can learn the hula.
