Detailed Information

Noonan Family Swim School, Inc. provides a positive, fun experience your child will always remember. Teaching children to swim at an early age builds confidence, self-esteem and increases motor skill development. This early exposure will help them to be more successful throughout their lives.

The goal of Noonan Family Swim School, Inc. is to provide parents and children with fundamental swim knowledge in a safe and loving environment. Often our students experience a class environment for the first time. Our well-trained staff understands the anxiety that is associated with learning to swim for the first time.

We assess each child’s swimming ability to develop a program that suits his/her personality and aquatic needs. We not only teach aquatic excellence, but also a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime.Jeff and Monica Noonan founded Noonan Family Swim School, Inc. in January of 2004. With their combined backgrounds in aquatics, teaching, human resources and management, establishing a swim school whose founding principles were rooted in an excellent curriculum, teaching to the individual needs of each child and treating every client as part of the Noonan Family was their way of giving back to the community

Jeff Noonan has over 25 years of experience in aquatics, including: competitive swimming, life guarding, coaching and teaching. Jeff’s skill for teaching has extended beyond the pool to include over seven years of classroom teaching, where he worked with at-risk youth and special education students. His swim instruction experience began at the age of 15, when he received his Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certificate in Fremont, California. Over the years he has taught thousands of adults and children how to swim, working with all ability levels, from beginners through competitive swimmers. He coached masters swim groups as well as acting as Head Coach for six years, for a 160 person swim team. Today, Jeff ensures that the mission and philosophy of NFSS are upheld, through ongoing program and project development.

Monica Noonan brings over 13 years of experience in the fields of human resources, recruiting and management. She was instrumental in the start-up of two Silicon Valley companies and later acted as a national auditor for Robert Half International. Monica’s success in the world of recruiting, management and human resources has allowed her to bring a unique approach and distinctive talents to Noonan Family Swim School. Her love of children has led her to create the Splash Babies program, NFSS’s parent and me curriculum. Today, she uses her wealth of knowledge to develop and refine employee training, management and customer service, while bringing Noonan’s fun, family environment to the local communities.

Our Levels

Parent and Me 1 (PM 1)
The focus of PM 1 is to create an environment in which parent’s can bond with their children while working on water adjustment.

6 to 15 months
This class helps parents learn how to handle and teach their children in the water, while focusing on floating, development of sensory and tactile skills, and introducing submersion.

16 to 36 months
At this age, we teach floating, water safety, submersion cues and submersion, while developing communication skills between the parent and child help build a healthy water relationship.

Parent and Me 2 (PM 2)
This class is for children that have completed
PM 1 and are comfortable in the water, know basic water safety, and are comfortable with submersion and floating.

6 to 15 months
This class expands upon the water safety base from PM 1. Children work on developing more comfort in back float, breath control, building communication, and are introduced to independent swimming.

16 to 36 months
Children at this stage are developing more independence, stronger water safety skills, more relaxed floats, as well as developing greater breath control for longer and multiple submersions.

Little Swimmers
This is a transition class in which children begin to swim less with their parents and more with the instructor. Participants of this class must have taken PM 2 and have permission from the instructor to advance.
