Makeup Enthusiast Mama: My Top Summer 5

0

As a makeup enthusiast, I love to use the change in seasons to change up my look.

Even though I’m a big proponent of non-toxic makeup, I also know there are limitations on what they can do so far. I support them by purchasing those products I do love. And I look forward to improvements. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t venture over to cosmetic counters at department stores, Sephora, or online.

So here are my summer faves for the busy mama who doesn’t have time to bust out a brush for every makeup item. Simple, natural-looking, but enhancing (like the filters on Snapchat) because at least for this mama, “au naturale” is not working anymore. I see my reflection, see a tired mama, and then I feel tired.

When I use these products, I look in the mirror and see a refreshed mama – and believe it or not – I then begin to feel refreshed and ready to take on my favorite season of the year!

So here go my favorite Summer 5:

1. Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel

This beauty is a gamechanger! With all the sunblock and increased sweat going on, in addition to eating foods I might not typically eat all year round, my face takes quite a hit. This peel resets everything. I’m not kidding when I say I will have some breakouts, and this baby will get rid of them overnight. It’s from a great company that strives to use clean ingredients in their products.

2. Mary Kay TimeWise Matte 3D Foundation

Finally, I don’t have to be yellow! I am an olive complexion and many makeup brands have a bit too much yellow pigmentation when it comes to the beige tones that I usually buy. Mary Kay has such a wide range of colors for this foundation line, you are sure to find that perfect foundation. I also love that it is part of the TimeWise line that helps minimize wrinkles and promote youthful skin. It has buildable coverage, so for most days, I just use my hands, and when I want to up the ante, I use their foundation brush or sponges.

3. B. by Banila Cheer Water Cheek Color Shade RD01 Girlish Red

Now this one, I did read about in Allure magazine (I get it for free for some reason as they try to get me to subscribe) and this tint does not disappoint. I have tried others and they were just too watery. This one has enough color to build on, but never to the point that it’s too much. I also love this coral color for summer, which is all the rave (for me, at least!). It’s a delicious Korean beauty product.

4. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

I’m sure many of you, even if you’re not a huge makeup enthusiast, have had your share of mascara trials and errors. I am with you. Plus these summer months can really test your mascara. But you also don’t want to use one that is difficult to wash off. This particular mascara has fit the bill for me. I can wash it off at the end of the day without too much effort, while it withstands splashes at the pool. What’s even better is how incredibly long your lashes look with just one layer, and that they curl up automatically. No clumping. I am thoroughly impressed.

5. Laneige 2-tone tint lip bar Tint Mint

I made this unique discovery over a year ago on the plane ride from Singapore to Tokyo. My seat mate shared with me her Korean beauty faves, and this lipstick caught my attention. Since I still haven’t seen it here in the States, I have to get mine through Amazon. It’s so fun wearing a look that is unique. It’s a lipstick style where the pop of color is on the inner lips, while the light-clear colored balm is on the outside. This makes you look like you just had a cherry popsicle! Of course, you can also wear it the other way around, color on the outside, balm/clear on the inside. There are a variety of shades available, but the Tint Mint has a coral pop of color, which, as I mentioned before, is my favorite summer shade this year.

So, there you have it, my favorite Summer 5. Have you tried any of these beauties? What are your favorite summer looks? I love to get new ideas, so please share!

Cheers to a happy summer for all you beautiful mamas, makeup or no makeup!
