Whether you are visiting Carlsbad or are a San Diego local, Carlsbad has a lot to offer during the summertime! Here are five summer vacation ideas in Carlsbad, Ca!
Legoland and Legoland Water Park
The Legoland water park is open for the season! Legoland is geared toward younger kiddos (think early elementary-aged), but fun for lego-lovers of all ages. The Legoland property offers Legoland, the Legoland Waterpark as well as the Sealife Aquarium, in addition to two onsite hotels. Reservations are currently required for the theme parks.
Strawberry picking at the Carlsbad Strawberry Company
U-pick strawberries are open! Pick strawberries and stay for the sunflower maze and tractor ride at the Carlsbad strawberry fields. Food vendors, as well as jump houses, are onsite on weekends. In addition to your bucket of berries, check out the produce stand for fresh, local produce and food. The strawberry season lasts through mid-July.
Enjoy delicious dining and coffee shops as well as shopping, and close proximity to the beach. Next, rent bikes and enjoy a delicious ice cream cone from Handels. Nothing says summer like riding a bike by the beach! The Carlsbad Village farmer’s market takes place on State Street between Grand and Carlsbad Village Drive on Wednesday afternoons starting at 2:30 pm.
Don’t forget the beach! Spring break in San Diego wouldn’t be complete without a beach trip. My family loves South Ponto Beach (for close parking, showers, and bathroom) as well as Carlsbad State beach, but it’s hard to go wrong! If you’re feeling adventurous, give a surf lesson a try!
California Water Sports at the Carlsbad Lagoon
California Water Sports at the Carlsbad Lagoon offers fun water activities for the whole family. Rent stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and more! The lagoon offers calm waters perfect for paddleboarding.
Hopefully, these summer vacation ideas help you and your family have some fun together! Enjoy your summer break in Carlsbad!
